Background
Dr. Jeni Stolow is a social and behavioral scientist who works at the intersection of medical anthropology, public health, and infectious disease outbreak response. Dr. Stolow has just returned from a deployment to Central/Eastern Europe responding to the Ukraine Emergency as a World Health Organization (WHO) Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) officer. Dr. Stolow is also currently responding to the COVID-19 pandemic as the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) Research Focal Point for RCCE. Dr. Stolow has expertise in qualitative methods, ethnography, risk communication, health promotion, community-based participatory research, as well as health behavior programming and evaluation. Her content specialization includes global maternal and child health, arboviruses, One Health, and infectious disease outbreak response. Additional interests include community capacity strengthening, sustainable training, pedagogy, and best practices in teaching and learning. Examples of Dr. Stolow’s recent work include a study of Zika virus risk communication and virus prevention in Brazil, an evaluation of Ebola survivor programming in Sierra Leone, and domestic post-disaster emergency assessments. Dr. Stolow’s goal is to partner with communities to implement rapid, effective, equitable, and sustainable responses to behavior change and infection control.
