Dr. Kenneth Campbell: Higher stroke rates in Black and Hispanic people are evidence of healthcare inequity

June 21, 2022

Dr. Kenneth Campbell says a new study showing higher rates of certain types of stroke in Black and Hispanic people further highlights inequities in our health system. “Studies have shown consistent inverse and stepwise relationships between class and premature death for minorities… In addition, there are wide differences in health outcomes between those who have resources and those who do not.” said Campbell. Campbell says in order to work to solve this problem, leaders must step up within healthcare organizations, “healthcare organizations’ executive leadership must work to reduce barriers for all and create the internal infrastructure needed to create more equitable access,” Campbell said.
